Hello.

My husband and I left our lives in Sydney to go travelling for the rest of 2016. What started as a one month honeymoon has turned into a four month adventure.

Day 32: Mountain Towning

Day 32: Mountain Towning

It was time to say arrivederci to our seaside village and head up the mountains to Nuoro. We were staying in a little B&B wayyyyy up in the mountains called Casa Solotti who kindly let us check in at midday and suggested we go a few towns over to Orani to check out Cortas Apertas (where basically the whole town opens their doors so you can see how they live and eat).

They also suggested we go up the mountain and check out Mountain Jesus (not the actual name) as well as visit Orgosolo which was famous for their political murals. So much to do, so little time before our Argriturismo dinner!

And here is Mountain Jesus.

We are pretty high up.

This is one of the lunch spots set up in the town of Orani for Cortas Apertas. When we got there they'd already sold out of their roasted meats.

Sadly these bad boys were for the dinner crowd.

They really love their pigs around here.

For an open town it was really quiet.

I was obsessed with this mint green home.

Random street donkey. Not sure what his deal was.

Alleyway eats. I wanted to join them but we'd just eaten. Boo.

Small doors or large human? If you know me, you know that it's definitely not the latter.

The town of Orgosolo with scarily narrow streets and lots of political murals. It was pouring so we only took photos from our little Fiat 500.

On the way to dinner we saw this amazing view. It's hard to capture it on camera, but it really was spectacular.

A little town tucked next to a huge and rocky mountain. I wish I could capture this better.

Agriturismo AgriPaules for dinner...

We were greeted by this mop of a dog.

And not too long after, his mates. I just loved giving all of the pats.

The little eating area at the agriturismo. Our hotel in Cala Gonone recommended this place, but it almost feels so though you could go to any and get a good feed.

House cured meats. It sounds fancy, but I don't think it is to them. It's just life.

Cheese tarts. So cheesy.

Looks ugly, but this is some roast lamb. Kind of fatty and really hard to get to the meaty bits.

And some wild boar which tasted a lot like beef, not pork like I was expecting.

We finished off with some Mirto (a Sardinian digestif) and some fruit, and were surprisingly not bursting at the seams. It's an agriturismo miracle!
