Day 69: Halloweening
I feel like Halloween in Tokyo has turned into a multi-day fiesta. Or a Halloweek if you will. This was official day of Halloween and even though it was a Monday night, people were still out in full force including our friends Liana and Mace who went all in on their evil nun and priest outfits. Me? No. Glitter eye stickers and coloured fake eyelashes were as far as I went and that was on Saturday night. Tonight was all black and a poor choice in footwear.
But first, ramen with Vivian (and Anri).
Ippudo is still one of my favourite ramen spots in this whole world and fortunately there is one right near my house which is both a dangerous and wonderful thing. This was my first time seeing Vivian this trip and it definitely wouldn't be the last.
Anri has grown up so much since I last saw him (he was about two months old the last time) and now that he is nearly one, he has learnt to cry around certain people. Aaaand unfortunately he seems to not be that cool with me. Don't worry, Anri... I'll win you over soon enough.
Spicy ramen for me. With a side of gyoza because I have a weakness for gyoza.
After ramen and a catch up at my place, Adam and I got ready to go out for dinner with our friends who were in town. Yakitori in Shibuya was on the cards, so we went to Sumile a yakitori izakaya hidden away from the Halloween craziness happening downstairs.
Heyyyy cheesy fries.
The menu was entirely in Japanese but a waitress spoke English so helped us order some pretty delicious yakitori.
Like, a lot of it.
While we were eating a cigarette promo girl came to our table and offered us free packets of cigarettes. Most of us were non-smokers but Mace took her up on her offer. You would never see something like that happen in Sydney.
Battling the crazy streets of Shibuya.
Just hectic.
Liana and Mace looking terrifying.
Dogs on Halloween. The poor things were terrified.
Insert eggplant emoji.
I'm pretty sure they aren't real cops.
Just a coupla Jokers enjoying some dinner.
Me and the colonel. After standing outside Family Mart waiting for friends for what felt like ages, my feet in heels decided they'd had enough so I decided to high tail it home before my feet well and truly called it quits.
Tokyo Halloween, you've been fun. I give it three days before I start to see Christmas decorations.
