Hello.

My husband and I left our lives in Sydney to go travelling for the rest of 2016. What started as a one month honeymoon has turned into a four month adventure.

Day 68: Real Life Tokyo Drift

Day 68: Real Life Tokyo Drift

The day before, Adam came back from lunch super excited about this sushi train place he and his friend went to. Now, I've been to many sushi trains. I've been to good ones, I've been to not so good ones, hell, I've even worked at one. But this one was probably the most fun and potentially the most delicious one I've ever been to.

Firstly, I don't think you really come to Japan for the sushi trains. It's not exactly the best quality and it might be seen as a little naff? But in this case, I don't care. It's good, plain and simple. Uobei looks like a total tourist trap from the outside (which is why I've never gone in before) – it's in a crowded back street in Shibuya and is always full of hungry looking tourists.

The thing that's different about Uobei is that you order off a touch screen (there is English available) and your sushi comes speeding out toward you on one of three conveyer belts. Once to take it off the belt, you press a button and the tray flies…

Once to take it off the belt, you press a button and the tray flies back to the kitchen from which it came. No muss, no fuss.

The sushi here is also incredible cheap. You can have a solid, fish-filled lunch for less than ¥1000.Also, if you're interested (which I am), the menu also lists how many calories each menu item has. Just don't let that turn you off your favourites …

Also, if you're interested (which I am), the menu also lists how many calories each menu item has. Just don't let that turn you off your favourites like my grilled salmon nigiri.

After lunch I headed over to my haircut at Assort Hair in Kita Aoyama. These guys have carved themselves a niche market as the place to go if you're a foreigner needing a haircut or colour.

I usually go to hairdressers in Tokyo because they are way cheaper than haircuts in Sydney and I like the experience (the massages are soooo good). Anyway, nothing drastic happened with my hair, and I forgot to take a picture while I was there so that's that really.

On the way to getting my hair cut there was a huge Halloween parade down the main street full of ridiculously cute dressed up kids dancing away.

My usual – avocado, chilli cheese burger. So many calories. Not enough fries. The burgers here are so good. Soft bun, good cheese, crisp lettuce and a good quality patty. They also aren't stingy with their avocado which is a win for me.

There's a lot going on in this picture. The bloody medical practitioners, the bloody car, the fact that it's so lowered that the wheels are at an angle, the teeth on the grill.

In an effort to keep the streets tidy during this time of year, there were a bunch of people assigned to help clean up or to direct people to rubbish bins. Which look like this. Themed garbage bags! Nice touch.

I couldn't quite capture it, but there are so many police at the intersection controlling the traffic (both human and car variety) and even more people waiting to cross. It was controlled hecticness.
