Day 52: Hola Spain!
I wasn't quite ready to leave Bordeaux and all of its baked goods and cheese, but San Sebastian awaited and along with it my oldest friend Jane (by length of time, not age) was taking a weekend break from London to see us.
We took one more stop at my favourite bakery of all time to stock up on some bus snacks and boarded the 4.5 hour long bus ride to Spain. And Jane.
Look at these beautiful quiches!
Bread for daaaayyyss.
Adam hates the bus, but with the only train leaving to San Sebastian at 4.15pm, this was the only reasonable option. Plus, it actually had really good wifi.

San Sebastian
Our Airbnb had a fantastic view of the beach and was just big enough for the three of us.
Jane had booked in dinner at A Fuego Negro but we passed a bar with an amazing selection of pintxos soooo we decided to get a pre-dinner pintxos and txakoli (a lightly sparkling local wine that they pour from up high).
Look at these happy faces!
Jane trying her first pintxos.
Dinner at A Fuego Negro was a nine course degustation which served up modern Basque food. These were pickled veggies.
Martini olives and squid ink tempura.
Deep fried jellyfish!
I remember having this the last time I ate here. Super weird – three ice creams but weird flavours like liquorice.
And this is where I begin to forget what the dishes were because our waitress spoke too quickly.
Team fancy dinner!
Our waitress (though a fast speaker) was all over it with the wine selection. Adam described something he was after and she knew straight away what to give us and it was spot on.
A crunchy risotto of sorts.
I've never met a slider I liked, but this wagyu one was actually alright.
I was so full by this point. Fortunately this is dessert, so we were nearly done.
And the finale – a popcorny, chocolatey dessert which was deeeelicious.
Thanks for dinner, Jane! xx
