Hello.

My husband and I left our lives in Sydney to go travelling for the rest of 2016. What started as a one month honeymoon has turned into a four month adventure.

Day 119: The Final Day

Day 119: The Final Day

I almost don't want to write this because that means it's over. Our huge 119 holiday is finally done. It feels like forever since we boarded the plane back in August – so fresh faced, so excited, so much... lighter.

The final day of a holiday usually sucks. Not because you're about to go home (well, partially) but mainly because you have to check out in the morning and, if your plane isn't due to leave until late at night – like ours – you feel a bit lost, left to wander the streets until it's time to go.

We packed up our little apartment which became home for the past six weeks and then made our way to Shinjuku where we decided to post our suitcases to the airport.

It costs a little bit (maybe like ¥2000 per bag) but it's so worth it if you want to actually do things on your last day. Plus, not having to deal with it on the trains is a real bonus.

It's weird, I can spend hours just looking at shops and doing not that much on usual days in Tokyo. But when it's the final day I always feel so lost and I can't think of anything to do.

We met up with the ever-present So and Tiia for a final drink and last minute yakitori at this outdoor space called 246 Common which is a communal space made up of lots of little vendors.

You can grab German, Mexican, Japanese, fish and chips plus a whole lot of different street foods here.

Rokurinsha (aka one of Tokyo's best tsukemen) is in the airport, so we decided to share a bowl before heading to the lounge.

Some last minute blog uploading before boarding. I didn't realise but the lounge in Tokyo has massage chairs! I only found this out 10 minutes before we had to board. BOO.

Ironic because neither of us can sleep on planes. I'm always jealous of people who can.

Almost time for take off!

Home! We landed to a not-so-warm Sydney with our rice cooker intact. I like how our bags fly business but we do not.

And that's it! 119 days of honeymoon done. It's still so crazy to me that we actually did this.

The days of swanning around the Amalfi, eating my weight in fried foods in New Orleans, seeing some great friends get married in Malibu, exploring Grand Cru wineries in Bordeaux, eating pintxos in Spain, swimming in the clear blue waters of Okinawa and living like a local in Tokyo will always be treasured memories for Adam and I. I'm so glad we did this and can't wait for the next adventure, whatever that may be...
