Hello.

My husband and I left our lives in Sydney to go travelling for the rest of 2016. What started as a one month honeymoon has turned into a four month adventure.

Day 46: They Put The 'Win' In Winery

I may have underestimated how cold it would suddenly become meaning that the two not-so-warm long sleeve tops I packed were quickly becoming inadequate and a little dirty. No matter, the (wine) show must go on!

We booked in a tasting at Corzano e Paterno, a cheese and wine producer in Chianti. We were a bit lost in translation so ended up on the tour which, to be honest, wasn't really necessary as we'd already been to a few so the information was pretty much the same. Oh well, it was still good to see the differences between the producers.

We then visited the house where they make the sheep and goat cheese. The smell in here was pretty delicious, so I was pretty ready for the tasting.

Okay, so for €18 you get a tasting of five cheeses, some truffle honey, bread and three wine tastings. If you skip the tour, it's only €10.

We had a reservation at Antinori – an epic winery owned by one (presumably shockingly wealth family). The winery is a real work of art and I have dreams to one day do a wine tasting in that little glass room in the right hand corner.

The tour wasn't cheap (it was €25 per person) but the tour did take about an hour and a half and it was fantastic seeing architecture and wine come together.

The clouds made the whole place look a bit eerie.

Not going to lie – I wanted to pick off a few grapes.

To Montepulciano!

A few rainy hours in our Fiat 500 later, we arrived in Montepulciano. When we got to our B&B, it felt as though we were above the clouds (we quite literally were).

The room was better than we could have hoped for – with amazing views, full kitchen, lounge room and bath, it was perfect.

We decided to save money and cook that night so took the time to walk around the tiny streets in search for a grocery store. When we found one, the lady working at the store was super sweet and after sensing the fact we couldn't afford any wine, gave us a bottle at a discount. Winners!

Our roommate. I didn't know scorpions existed in Italy! To be honest, I was terrified of stepping on him during the night. *shudder*

We polished off the bottle while binging on season two of Narcos. So good.
