Autumn in Mitake

Taking advantage of the last few weeks of Autumn in Japan, my friend and I decided to take a wholesome day trip out to Mitake. It’s about 2 hours out of Shinjuku and you have to get 2 trains, a bus and finally a cable car to get to the top but it’s all worth it. It’s not a tough hike by any means, but it’s a good idea to pack comfortable and warm clothes.

If you’re in Tokyo in the Autumn, this is definitely worth doing.

Mitake is such a pretty place. Why anyone would want to kayak in the cold is beyond me.

The trees were so tall, skinny and neatly organised. What happened to the tree on the right? We couldn't work it out. Lightning strike?

When you reach the top of the cable car, you're greeted with this view. A nice place to eat your 7 Eleven egg sandwiches.

I love dango. I particularly love dango when it's covered in sticky soy sauce, smoked and served on a stick. Chewy.

Japanese children are genetically programmed to be 10.54% cuter than average. FACT.

So many colours! I can see why the Japanese go nuts over coloured leaves.

The Japanese love marathons. I saw one being held on Mt Fuji and there is one held in Mitake. IN THE SNOW.

Before Tommy Lee Jones posed for Suntory Boss, there was this guy. Not sure if someone else added the smoking pipe and moustache though.

Dear lord this dog is hideous. It looks like it had a stroke.
