Day 115: Pizzas, Planets And Dinner Parties
Well, well. It's only taken NEARLY TWO MONTHS to get to the damn Mori Art Museum. But dagnabbit, I wasn't going to leave Japan without going. After checking to see if it was open (I've been caught out before), we made our way to Roppongi for some art. And pizza.
Squeeee! A real life sumo just walking around in Shibuya station. He was huuuuuge.
There's this pizza place in Roppongi that I've heard people rave about. Now, I haven't had much in the way of pizza since the gorging that was Napoli, but I figured it was time to get some more pizza into the old pie hole. And Savoy was just the pizza place to do that.
It's a tiny, weeny restaurant just down the road from Roppongi Hills and sits maybe about 10 people at a time. As usual, there was a lunch special where you got a pizza of your choice and bottomless iced tea for something like ¥1200 (I could be wrong on the price here).
We went classic and got the margherita and the marinara which was made expertly (and quickly) but the pizziaolo.
Both pizzas were delicious. Light, fluffy and chewy bases topped with just enough of everything.
The pizza man eventually built up enough confidence to try and talk to us about the pizza and our cameras. He was such a nice guy I wish I could have talked to him more.
After the sweet taste of delicious pizza, we headed over to Roppongi Hills where a Rolls Royce was being casually dropped off to a lucky owner. Incidentally, another Rolls rolled past just after I took this photo.
They'd set up Christmas markets at Roppongi Hills which were actually full of Christmassy things I wanted to decorate my non-existent house with.
We made it to the art museum! It's not exactly cheap to go, but when in Tokyo...
There was a space themed exhibition on at the time which was pretty crazy. They started with ancient artefacts and moved the Galileo's works and then got weird with some of the more modern stuff.
This is me if I were an astronaut.
View from the tower.
You've been warned.
With our art/design/space fix uhhh fixed, we walked past a Suntory whisky pop up. How convenient?
Offering tasting flights and interesting takes on the classic highball, we couldn't resist and just had to take a seat by the (fake) fireplace and enjoy some relaxing times.
But it was no rest for the wicked. After being warmed up by a bit of whisky, we headed to Kumraz and Paul's apartment for a home cooked meal. This would be the last time I see this apartment in Tokyo as they are opting for the quieter life and moving to Saitama.
Cute fruit desserts made by Kumraz.
