Day 113: Sugar High (Followed By A Sugar Crash)
With only a few days left of le megamoon it was time to get (even more) serious about the foods we were cramming down our throats and the last minute wish lists/shopping lists.
Shake Shack had to be visited again because who knows when we'd be able to taste their sweet, sweet burgs again?
No lines, no worries. It wasn't a super cold day so we were able to sit out on the deck (under some heaters).
Waiting patiently for our order...
After ordering Jun Hasegawa's limited edition burger the last time we were here, we had to go classic with the ShackBurger and fries.
A very attractive photo of the happy couple.
Come to me you sweet thing.
A quiet day in burger town.
The sun sets quite early in December so even though this was about 3pm, it felt way later. We just wandered the streets of Omotesando for a little while.
It's funny, you can be on a crazy busy street one moment and then walk two streets over and it's super quiet and residential.
Going up... in United Arrows AKA one of my favourite shops.
Beep, beep.
There's this shop that specialises in these toys. A whole shop for this.
Bape kids is the only Bape stuff I can get behind. Especially when it involved a "ball pit" filled with foam bananas. I wanted to get a photo of me in said pit but was too embarrassed.
They had police set up at the crossings ensuring people didn't stop to take photos which leads me to ask, "if you can't take photos of an illumination, did it even illuminate?"
We met up with Vivian "for a coffee" at the famous Dominique Ansel bakery in Tokyo (this guy was famous for the cronut which spawned all manner of croissant/doughnut variations) before she had to go to work. What was meant to be a coffee turned in to a whooooole lot of sweet treats which left me feeling satisfied and somewhat ill.
This cookie was potentially one of the best cookies I've ever had in my life. Chewy and chocolatey, it's the kind of cookie I would totally dunk into some milk. But no matter because they have that sorted here too.
Behold the cookie shot. A cookie cup filled to the brim with vanilla milk. More than a novelty, this thing was so delicious I wish I wasn't so full from my coffee and the cookie and the frozen s'mores to enjoy them.
Sugar gang.
The frozen s'mores are another popular item here. Vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate flakes covered in marshmallow and then blow-torched to a crispy, burny level of deliciousness. Served to you on an actual, real life stick, it's kind of what I imagine American kids camping would have eaten. Only fancier.
S'more me.
Eyeing this bad boy off. A portable yakitori grill!
Still full from all that sugar, we decided to keep dinner simple at old fave, Uobei.
Though, still hepped up on sugar, when some douchebag pushed in front of everyone in the line, Adam and I let him have it. I should know better than to argue with idiots but I didn't want him to get away with pushing in without any consequence.
Sushi eventually calmed me down and sushi roulette was a bit of fun (even though we didn't win).
